Private Loans With No Credit Check: What to Verify

Private loans with no credit check are a claim to verify. Classify purpose and security, then test the provider, affordability, cost, terms and evidence.

Private loans with no credit check are a search label and a claim to verify, not an approval category. For a broker, the assessment starts with the loan’s purpose and security, then the provider’s actual credit assessment and the client’s ability to repay. A private lender’s name or a bad-credit advertisement doesn’t establish that a credit enquiry will be avoided.

Classify Purpose and Security First

Classify the client’s borrowing request before comparing personal-loan providers. Record the amount requested, intended use, borrower, repayment source and proposed provider. Keep the advertisement or referral message that brought the client to you.

  1. Identify who will borrow and how much cash they need after fees. Separate the client’s requested amount from the amount a website suggests.
  2. Describe what the money will pay for. Record personal spending, a home purchase or refinance, property investment or business use accurately.
  3. Identify any proposed security and guarantor. A personal-purpose loan secured over a home needs a mortgage assessment even if the advertisement calls it a private loan.
  4. Select the assessment route from those facts. Continue here for confirmed personal-purpose finance, and send mortgage, property-credit or business requests to their detailed assessment.

A request for a home equity loan with bad credit and no income belongs in the mortgage route. Home ownership doesn’t establish a repayment source. A client’s request for loans without a guarantor is a separate condition from credit history or income verification.

Test the No-Credit-Check Claim

Test a no-credit-check claim against the application consent, privacy notice and assessment documents for the actual lender. Distinguish an initial quote from a full application. Record when the lender can obtain a credit report and whether the enquiry is recorded on the client’s file.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) gives a concrete example in its September 2026 action concerning Fundo. ASIC alleges Fundo’s former no-credit-check advertising was misleading because all applicants had to consent to a check and some applications underwent checks. Payment of the infringement notice is not an admission of liability.

As at October 2026, Fundo’s privacy policy describes credit-report information requests and assessment using application details and bank statements. Its automated assessment can approve, reject or send a case for manual review. That process doesn’t support describing Fundo as a lender that never checks credit.

For a client’s proposed lender, retain the exact claim and the documents that qualify it. If the advertisement conflicts with the application consent, use the documented assessment method in your explanation. Resolve the conflict with the provider before the client authorises an application.

Low-documentation (low-doc) and no-documentation (no-doc) personal-loan wording doesn’t establish that credit checks are absent. Record the alternative evidence required and how the provider verifies repayment capacity. A bank-statement assessment still examines the client’s finances even when payslips aren’t requested.

Verify the Private Lender and Loan Route

Identify the legal credit provider and every intermediary before sharing client records. Match the lender in the credit guide to the party named in the proposed contract. Record who receives the application, assesses it, provides the credit and collects repayments.

ASIC’s credit registers provide the route for checking credit licensees and representatives. Match the legal name and licence number, check the current status and authorisations, and save the result with its access date. A company registration or business name alone doesn’t establish authority to provide consumer credit.

If a provider claims an exemption, record the specific exemption and its application to this transaction. A description such as private lender is insufficient. ASIC’s guidance recognises exemptions and relief, so a missing licence entry alone doesn’t establish the legal position.

For the named examples below, ASIC’s September 2026 Fundo release identifies Fundo Loans Pty Ltd and Australian credit licence 491418. The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) register updated on 10 August 2026 lists National Australia Bank Limited (NAB) as an authorised deposit-taking institution. These records establish the stated identities and regulatory records, not approval for a particular borrower.

A direct lender issues its own credit proposal. A referral website sends details to another business, and a comparison service presents products it covers. Record each party’s role and the receiving lender’s identity so the client knows whose assessment and terms apply.

Assess Bad-Credit Private and Personal Loans

Assess a personal loan for bad credit from the actual credit events and current finances. The words bad credit private loans don’t explain whether the client has a paid default, current arrears or an insolvency event. Each needs its own evidence.

For every relevant event, record the creditor, amount, event date, current status and cause. Add payment or settlement evidence and the client’s repayment conduct since the event. Reconcile the client’s account of the event with their current credit report and account statements.

A fictional client, Alex, wants $6,000 for dental treatment and has a $900 telecommunications default from March 2024. Alex says it was paid in July 2024. The file needs the report entry and payment confirmation, plus current income and commitment evidence, before those facts can support a lender assessment.

Compare mainstream, specialist and private personal-loan routes using that same file. Mainstream eligibility doesn’t establish acceptance of Alex’s default. A specialist’s willingness to assess adverse credit still requires enough income to meet its repayment schedule.

As at October 2026, NAB’s application guidance requires regular income and asks for income, debts and living expenses. Its application help explicitly describes a credit check. NAB sets the offered rate using the application and credit history, so Alex’s basic eligibility doesn’t establish approval or a particular rate.

As at October 2026, Fundo’s website says it considers borrowers with a poor credit score and requires demonstrated repayment capacity. Its credit guide requires financial verification and an assessment of whether repayments would cause substantial hardship. A lender that considers adverse credit can therefore still decline Alex on affordability.

For private personal loans for bad credit, use the proposed lender’s documented treatment of the specific event. A broker referral can help place the file with a provider that considers it, but the referral doesn’t change the lender’s credit checks or repayment requirements.

If the client needs a loan with bad credit and no guarantor, record that condition separately. An unsecured loan has no asset security, but Moneysmart explains that some unsecured lenders still require a guarantor. Establish the actual guarantee requirement before describing a route as suitable for that request.

Test Affordability and Repayment

Reconcile verified income with living expenses, existing commitments and the proposed repayment before judging affordability. Use payslips or other accepted income records alongside bank statements. Include irregular bills and repayments that won’t disappear when the new loan starts.

In this fictional monthly budget, Alex receives $5,000 after tax. Living expenses are $3,800 and existing debt repayments are $350. A proposed $282.44 loan repayment leaves $567.56 each month: $5,000 minus $3,800 minus $350 minus $282.44.

Now reduce Alex’s income by $700 because overtime stops. The same commitments exceed income by $132.44 each month. The proposed repayment would then require cash reserves or another evidenced change, and the original $567.56 surplus would overstate ongoing capacity.

Check payment dates as well as monthly totals. If Alex is paid monthly but the loan debits fortnightly, place every debit on the cash-flow calendar. Confirm the account holds enough cash on each due date.

Moneysmart’s loan-rejection guidance explains that lenders assess income and commitments alongside credit history. A positive budget result is one input, not proof of eligibility, approval or suitability. Keep the lender’s assessment separate from your fictional stress test.

Calculate Total Cost and Terms

Calculate total cost from the amount the client receives and every scheduled payment. Read the interest calculation and the establishment fee treatment. Add ongoing charges and any final payment, then record the repayment frequency and term.

The following fictional schedules illustrate term length only. Both have a $6,000 principal and a $120 establishment fee deducted from the advance, so Alex receives $5,880. Both assume 12% annual interest, calculated monthly on the reducing balance, with no ongoing fees or balloon payment.

Payments are rounded to cents, with the final payment adjusted for rounding. The shorter schedule ends with a $282.46 payment, and the longer schedule ends with a $199.11 payment.

Fictional scheduleMonthly repaymentNumber of paymentsTotal repaymentsCost above cash received
Shorter term$282.4424$6,778.58$898.58
Longer term$199.2936$7,174.26$1,294.26

The longer term reduces the monthly payment by $83.15 but increases total repayments by $395.68. The figures are invented schedules, not NAB or Fundo offers, live rates or a market range. A real quote must produce its own repayment calculation from its stated interest and fees.

Check whether fees are withheld, financed or paid separately. A fee already included in scheduled repayments must be counted once. If the client needs $6,000 in their bank account, the fictional $5,880 advance falls $120 short of that purpose.

Record late-payment charges, default interest, collection consequences and early-repayment conditions from the contract. Compare an early payout using a dated payout figure, including any break or discharge cost. A smaller regular payment can leave a larger total cost, and a missed payment can add costs outside the original schedule.

Compare Alternatives and Hand Off Other Purposes

Compare personal-finance alternatives using the same purpose and repayment evidence. A smaller request, delayed borrowing or a different term can change the outcome. Show the effect on cash received, payment dates and total cost before recommending another application.

For Alex, delaying part of the dental work could reduce the required borrowing if the treatment provider confirms that schedule is possible. A longer term lowers the fictional payment but still leaves a shortfall after the $700 income reduction. Even a $199.29 payment would exceed the stressed budget by $49.29 a month.

For a named-provider comparison, keep Alex’s $6,000 personal purpose and paid default unchanged. The table describes published assessment and cost structures as at October 2026. It supplies no approval prediction or price ranking.

NAB’s longer published term range allows a different repayment comparison. Fundo’s stated consideration of poor credit addresses adverse-credit treatment, but it doesn’t remove credit assessment or affordability requirements. Compare each actual offer on net proceeds and total repayments before choosing between them.

A broker-arranged personal-loan proposal belongs in the same comparison once the actual lender and product are identified. Record the broker’s fees and available lender panel, then assess the provider’s terms on Alex’s unchanged facts.

Hand off other purposes with the facts already collected. Use the bad-credit home loan guide for residential mortgage requests. Send property or business private facilities to the private credit loan assessment, and unsecured business requests to the bad-credit business loan guide.

Prepare the Broker Evidence Record

Prepare one evidence record that explains the proposed personal-loan route or the reason for a handoff. Link every material figure to a document and every provider claim to its source and access date. Keep the client’s supplied facts distinct from estimates.

EvidenceWhat the record needs to establish

Record unresolved claims in the client file with the question sent to the provider and its written response when received. If the legal provider is unidentified, resolve that identity before sending financial records. If the budget fails, change the proposal and recalculate before describing a repayment route to the client.

The client explanation must identify who lends, how assessment works, what cash is received and what must be repaid. Keep the no-credit-check advertisement attached as evidence of the original claim, while your explanation follows the verified application and contract terms.
