DocuSign Alternatives for Mortgage Brokers 2026
Compare DocuSign alternatives for mortgage brokers by lender acceptance, identity controls, audit evidence, integrations, cost and switching work.

Annature is the strongest DocuSign alternative for mortgage brokers who want pay-per-envelope signing, Australian support and separately priced identity checks. Adobe Acrobat Sign suits teams moving agreement work into Microsoft Teams. Dropbox Sign is the practical free option for occasional signature requests.
Keep DocuSign when your lender supplies the signing invitation or your brokerage already depends on its configured authentication and document workflow. Changing your own signing subscription doesn’t change the platform a lender uses to issue loan documents.
Best DocuSign Alternatives by Switching Need
The best alternatives to DocuSign replace the part of the signing process you control. For a brokerage, that usually means its own client agreements and authorities, subject to the requirements of whoever receives them.
| Option | Best-for switching reason | Gain | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annature | Variable signing volume and a growing team | Pay per envelope with unlimited users; Australian support | Identity checks and text-message delivery are separate usage costs |
| Adobe Acrobat Sign | Agreement administration inside Microsoft Teams | Official Teams integration and configurable signing workflows | Advanced authentication and audit controls depend on the service tier |
| Dropbox Sign | Occasional brokerage-owned agreements | Free plan includes three signature requests per month and an audit trail | Free capacity is limited; stronger authentication needs the appropriate plan |
| Keep DocuSign | An established integration or lender-issued workflow | Preserve the current routing, evidence and client process | Your subscription’s sending allowance still needs to fit your own volume |
These product and plan distinctions are current as at 3 October 2026. A signing service is a replacement only for documents the brokerage is authorised to send through it.
Annature
Annature is the first choice when separate sender subscriptions make occasional or uneven usage expensive to manage. Its published pricing bills an envelope as one unit regardless of the number of documents or recipients. Unlimited users and local support are included.
Australian identity checks are a separate service, with optional screening charges. This separates signing spend from the identity work each file actually needs. It also means a cheap signature request doesn’t include every identity check automatically.
Annature’s security assessment describes exportable envelope and verification history. It records timestamped identity evidence, and its envelope audit history uses linked checksums to reveal changes. Keep the signing evidence and any required identity report together in the client file.
Adobe Acrobat Sign
Adobe Acrobat Sign is the better fit when the switching problem is agreement administration inside Microsoft Teams. Its official integration lets staff manage agreements and receive signing notifications within Teams. That changes where staff work, while the signed agreement remains an Acrobat Sign record.
Every Acrobat Sign service tier includes a downloadable audit report. Configurable detail is available in Acrobat Sign Solutions tiers, so a basic Acrobat subscription and a business signing deployment aren’t interchangeable.
For identity-heavy files, Adobe documents government-ID authentication and a separate Signer Identity Report. The report requires the enterprise service plan and support enablement. That plan requirement matters when your file must retain the identity evidence behind authentication.

Dropbox Sign
Dropbox Sign is the most useful free DocuSign alternative on this shortlist for low-volume brokerage agreements. Its free plan includes three signature requests per month. A request can contain several documents and signers when sent in one bundle.
Completed requests include the signed PDF and an audit trail. Unlimited self-signing is separate and doesn’t produce that audit trail, so it doesn’t replace a client signature request.
Paid per-user plans allow unlimited signature requests under Dropbox’s published feature description. Advanced text-message authentication is a separate plan capability. Choose this route for straightforward agreements and storage integration, with the authentication level your document needs.
Why Brokers Consider Leaving DocuSign
DocuSign’s sending allowances and plan structure can prompt a switch, even when its signing process works well. Its Australian pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, lists annual Standard and Business Pro allowances of 100 envelopes per user. Sent envelopes consume the allowance even if recipients never complete them.
An envelope is the container for a signing transaction. Several documents sent together can count as one envelope, so document count alone gives a misleading estimate of annual usage. Additional envelopes can incur usage charges under the published terms.
Separate a purchasing problem from a configuration problem. If clients abandon signing because the wrong mobile number is used, changing platforms won’t repair that contact data. If the audit report omits the detail you require, the relevant question is whether the current tier and settings can record it.
DocuSign already has reusable templates, reminders and a real-time audit trail. Its Identify product supports identity verification, including document and biometric checks. Those capabilities are reasons to preserve a working deployment when stronger identity controls matter.
For a concrete illustration, consider a fictional brokerage with several staff who send only occasional client agreements. Annature’s shared pay-per-envelope structure addresses the cost of licensing each sender. A team whose documents already move through an automated DocuSign workflow faces a different decision because rebuilding that workflow adds work.
Use the DocuSign broker-workflow guide for the incumbent’s full plan and setup review. A complaint about one allowance doesn’t establish that every DocuSign contract has the same limit.
Acceptance, Identity and Audit Comparison
Document acceptance comes before platform preference, and electronic-signature capability alone doesn’t establish that a lender accepts a particular output. The comparison below uses the same checklist as at 3 October 2026. Acceptance is unknown where the document owner’s current instructions don’t establish it.
Macquarie’s home-loan process illustrates the distinction. As at October 2026, Macquarie describes lender-issued DocuSign invitations with a text-message authentication code and completed documents returned to its solicitors. That workflow doesn’t authorise a broker to reissue the offer through another provider.
Macquarie’s separate signature-acceptance guidance names Adobe Sign, Annature and DocuSign for certain account and investment forms. Its scope includes cash products and Macquarie Wrap, not home loans. The named-provider list must stay within that scope.
| Checklist | DocuSign | Annature | Adobe Acrobat Sign | Dropbox Sign |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home-loan document acceptance | Macquarie uses lender-issued DocuSign for its offer workflow | Unknown for replacing that lender-issued workflow | Unknown for replacing that lender-issued workflow | Unknown for replacing that lender-issued workflow |
| Recipient authentication | Email invitation; additional authentication and Identify options | Signing invitations by email or text message; identity checks are configured separately | Email authentication and stronger methods depend on configuration | Email invitation; advanced text-message authentication is a plan capability |
| Identity evidence | Identify records verification status in completion evidence | Separate verification history and report data can be exported | Separate Signer Identity Report requires the enterprise service plan and support enablement | Audit history records the signing transaction; this alone doesn’t establish government-ID verification |
| Timestamps | Envelope progress and audit events | Timestamped verification records and envelope history | Agreement events in the audit report | Transaction events and internet address are timestamped |
| Document integrity | Completion certificate and security controls | Linked checksums make envelope audit history tamper-evident | Tamper-evident audit trail | Document hashes and transaction-log hashes reveal changes |
| Completion record | Signed documents and Certificate of Completion | Export envelope history with signed documents | Signed agreement and downloadable Audit Report | Signed PDF with audit trail, optionally separate |
A code sent to a phone establishes access to that phone during signing. A government-ID check examines different evidence. Neither automatically satisfies every property-file verification of identity requirement.
For a brokerage-owned agreement, preserve the final PDF and its transaction evidence. Keep any identity report required for that file under the appropriate access controls. A visible signature image alone doesn’t show how the recipient was authenticated.
Workflow, Integrations and Total Cost
Compare the complete route from an unsigned document to a completed client record. A storage connection can save the PDF without updating the signing status in your customer relationship management (CRM) system.
| Product and connection | Classification | Objects and direction | Practical limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annature identity-verification connection | Application programming interface (API) or custom development | Application starts verification requests; results and report data return through the configured implementation | An API connection needs development and permission management |
| Acrobat Sign for Microsoft Teams | Official connector | Staff send and manage agreements in Teams; signing notifications return to Teams | Installation and approval are administrator tasks |
| Dropbox Sign within Dropbox | Native integration | Files move from Dropbox into signing; completed copies save back to Dropbox and Dropbox Sign | Full Dropbox storage prevents the completed copy saving there |
| Any provider to a broker CRM by download and upload | Manual transfer | Staff export signed PDF and evidence, then attach them to the client record | Status and recipient data don’t automatically sync |
DocuSign’s broad integration catalogue is a strength, but a catalogue entry doesn’t prove a particular broker CRM connection or its direction. Compare the actual connector you use with the replacement route. Third-party automation adds another service between signing and your file records, with its own permissions and usage costs.
Bulma helps with a different part of the client file: lender policy research and scenario planning. It quotes the policy behind answers and compares scenarios across 52+ lenders. Choosing a signing provider doesn’t establish a connection to Bulma or turn scenario outputs into a signed agreement.
Use one workload when comparing commercial terms. For example, a fictional two-sender brokerage with 12 monthly signing bundles needs capacity for 144 bundles a year. Count resends according to the provider’s rules and add the identity checks required for those files.
| Option | Billing basis | Usage and cost items to include |
|---|---|---|
| DocuSign | Per-user subscription with monthly or annual allowances | Extra envelopes, identity add-ons, text-message delivery and the contract’s support tier |
| Annature | Pay per envelope and per verification | Separate delivery or screening charges; unlimited users and local support are included |
| Adobe Acrobat Sign | User licence or negotiated transaction-volume contract | Authentication transactions, service and support tiers, implementation work and the specific subscription allowance |
| Dropbox Sign | Limited free plan or paid per-user plan | Three free monthly requests; authentication and support tiers, storage and separate API terms where used |
Adobe’s transaction guidance, checked on 3 October 2026, distinguishes Acrobat Standard and Pro from Acrobat Sign user licences. The latter generally include 150 transactions per user per year unless the contract states otherwise. That distinction prevents treating every Adobe subscription as the same replacement.
Compare quotes in Australian dollars over the same 12-month period, with goods and services tax (GST) treated consistently. Foreign-currency quotes also need conversion and payment costs. Include setup time, template recreation and the overlap period when both services remain active.
Three free monthly requests don’t cover the fictional brokerage’s 12-bundle workload. Annature’s free account setup also doesn’t mean ongoing signing and identity checks are free. A DocuSign alternatives list from 2019 is too old to establish today’s allowances or identity controls.
Migration and Final Choice
Move brokerage-owned signing work only after its templates, evidence exports and staff permissions work in the replacement. Leave active lender-issued invitations in the lender’s process.
| Replacement | Templates and permissions | Active envelopes and evidence | Retention and cancellation dependencies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annature | Recreate document fields and signing order; give each staff member their own access | Finish existing DocuSign transactions there; export old signed PDFs and certificates separately | Set retention and report access for signing and identity records; include pay-as-you-go activity during overlap |
| Adobe Acrobat Sign | Rebuild library templates and groups; obtain Teams administrator approval where used | Preserve original DocuSign records; configure Audit Report before new sends; identity-report collection requires the enterprise service plan and support enablement | Retain required reports independently of the account; negotiate the correct licence and authentication allowance |
| Dropbox Sign | Recreate templates available on the chosen plan; configure team access and the storage destination | Keep old transactions in their original service; save new PDFs with their audit trails | Retain a separate file copy; cancellation to the free plan differs from account deletion |
Treat template transfer as recreation unless the specific import method preserves every required field. Moving a PDF doesn’t transfer signing order, authentication settings or transaction history.
- Inventory your brokerage’s document types and identify who controls acceptance. Separate client agreements from lender offers and witnessed documents.
- Export completed DocuSign PDFs with their Certificates of Completion. Record active envelopes and let them finish, or formally void them before issuing replacements.
- Recreate one template using fictional names and synthetic data. Configure required authentication, signing order and staff permissions before sending it to authorised internal testers.
- Complete that small pilot and inspect the resulting PDF, timestamps and audit record. Confirm that required identity evidence is retained and that the storage connection saves the expected files.
- Set a cutover date for new brokerage-owned requests. Preserve exports under your retention policy and remove obsolete connection credentials after the old workflow ends.
- Stop DocuSign renewal or downgrade only after the open transactions and archives are covered. Cancellation, downgrade and permanent account closure are different actions.
This pilot verifies the chosen migration configuration. It doesn’t ask you to repeat the product comparison or assume a successful internal signature proves lender acceptance.
Choose Annature for variable-volume signing with local support. Choose Acrobat Sign for agreement work centred on Teams, or Dropbox Sign for occasional requests that fit its free allowance. Keep the lender’s mandated signing route for lender-controlled documents, even after you replace the brokerage’s own subscription.
