Find a Suburb and Postcode Match

This postcode checker searches Australian locality records by postcode or suburb name. Enter a complete four-digit postcode, or part of a suburb name, then narrow the matches with the state or territory filter.

Keep every postcode digit. The leading zero in 0800 is part of the postcode. Suburb searches ignore capital letters and accept several words in any order. Each word must appear in the locality name.

The directory bundles GeoNames postal localities and exact locality records from Housing Australia’s Help to Buy cap list. Search results show which list contains each combination. A record match does not verify a street address, a delivery point or the existence of a particular property.

Searches and selections stay on your device. The tool reads its bundled lists without sending your search to an external service or saving it between visits.

Resolve Multiple Matches

Select the exact suburb, state and postcode in Matching locality. The result cards list every matching combination across pages, while the dropdown lets you select from the complete matching list.

Postcode 2000 covers several NSW localities, including Barangaroo, Haymarket and Sydney. Australia Post’s postcode finder lists each separately. The starting example selects SYDNEY NSW 2000 and returns a Help to Buy cap of $1,300,000.

A leading-zero example is DARWIN CITY NT 0800, which Australia Post lists under 0800. Select that complete combination to display its $600,000 Help to Buy cap. A differently named directory entry remains separate, even when it shares the postcode.

A suburb name such as Richmond can match several states. Use the property documents to choose the correct combination, then copy that complete combination into the file. Changing a filter keeps your selection only while that exact record still matches.

If the selected state conflicts with the postcode, the tool shows no match. Compare the spelling and postcode with the property documents and Australia Post’s records. The tool does not replace an unmatched entry with a guessed correction.

Check the Help to Buy Price Cap

The Help to Buy result shows the published maximum property price for the exact selected combination when it has a bundled cap record. The cap belongs to the Australian Government Help to Buy Scheme.

Each cap comes from Housing Australia’s locality list. The tool retains separate postcodes for the same suburb and every published cap outcome for an exact combination. If more than one outcome applies, it displays all amounts and leaves the result unresolved.

An unresolved combination needs the Housing Australia property price cap lookup. Enter the exact suburb and postcode there. Housing Australia directs buyers to contact it when their suburb, state and postcode combination is absent or needs clarification.

A price cap checks one property condition. It does not establish applicant eligibility, borrowing capacity, the government contribution or lender approval. The property’s purchase price must fit its applicable cap, and your affordable purchase price can be lower.

Use the Result in a Property File

Keep the chosen locality and postcode with the property evidence. When using the scheme cap, record the scheme name and the exact locality combination beside the amount.

Compare postal details with the Australia Post postcode finder. Its records own postal confirmation. Use Housing Australia’s official lookup to confirm the Help to Buy property cap before proceeding with a purchase.

A lender assesses security restrictions separately. A postal match or a Help to Buy cap does not decide acceptable land use, valuation conditions or maximum loan-to-value ratio. Those checks remain part of the lender’s property assessment.
