CBA Broker Portal: Registration and Broker Support

Registering for CBA broker access or fixing permissions? Use the Commbank broker portal for applications, technical support and the right BDM route.

Updated

The CBA broker portal is CommBroker, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) site where accredited residential brokers log on, track applications and read CBA’s broker policy. Open it from CommBank’s residential brokers page or at commbroker.com.au. NetBank, CommBank’s personal internet banking, is a different log-on and doesn’t open CommBroker.

To register, your aggregator lodges a CBA accreditation application for you. Once CBA approves it, you receive a Broker ID and a Relationship Manager who supports you. Commercial and asset finance brokers use a separate CBA log-on, so check which accreditation you hold before you look for help.

CBA and CommBank Broker Portal

CBA, CommBank and Commonwealth Bank are names for the same bank, and its residential broker portal is CommBroker. Whether you search for a CBA broker login, a Comm Bank broker portal or a Commonwealth Bank broker login, you need the same CommBroker sign-in.

As at October 2026, the official entry point is CommBank’s residential brokers page, which has a “Log on to CommBroker” button. That button opens the CommBroker log on page. The page signs you in through CBA’s sign-on address, signon.thirdparty.commbank.com.au.

Check the Site Before You Sign In

Check these details before you type a password.

  1. The address. CommBroker uses commbroker.com.au and CBA’s sign-on address. Open it from the residential brokers page or your own bookmark, never from a link in an email or text message.
  2. The log-on type. The “Log on” menu on commbank.com.au lists NetBank, CommBiz and CommSec. These are personal banking, business banking and share trading log-ons, and none of them is the broker portal.
  3. The user ID format. The CommBroker log on page asks brokers to leave off the “CF” at the start of their user ID. A broker with user ID CFAB123 enters AB123.

CBA’s security page says CBA never asks customers to log on through a link in an email or SMS.

Bankwest is part of the Commonwealth Bank group but runs its own broker portal, so Bankwest brokers can use the Bankwest broker portal guide. Other lenders’ sign-in pages are in the broker portal directory.

Registration and Delegated Access

To get CBA broker access, ask your aggregator’s accreditation team to lodge a CommBank accreditation application, then complete CBA’s accreditation modules. When CBA approves you, it issues a Broker ID and assigns a Relationship Manager.

As at October 2026, CBA’s residential brokers page lists these requirements for accreditation.

  • A completed or in-progress Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management. A listed higher qualification with a finance component also counts. A broker still studying for the diploma or an advanced diploma must finish it within 12 months of accreditation.
  • Current membership of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) or the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA).
  • A role as an employee, credit representative or director of an Australian credit licence (ACL) holder that CBA has approved to recruit brokers.

CBA has removed its experience requirement, so a newly qualified mortgage broker can apply.

Register as a New CBA Broker

  1. Confirm the requirements above with your aggregator. Its accreditation team creates the online application for you.
  2. Allow up to 15 business days for CBA to assess the application after it’s submitted.
  3. Complete CBA’s short broker accreditation modules and assessment questions.
  4. Record your Broker ID and your Relationship Manager’s contact details when CBA approves you.
  5. Log on to CommBroker with the user ID CBA gives you. Access is working when the CommBroker menu loads, including Your Applications.

If the log on page doesn’t accept your new user ID, tell your Relationship Manager before you lodge a file. Include the Broker ID and the date of approval.

Transfer CBA Accreditation

To keep CBA accreditation when you move to another aggregator or licence, get a clear release letter from your previous aggregator first. Your new aggregator’s accreditation team then lodges the transfer application, which CBA assesses in up to 2 business days. The transfer checklist also asks that the broker be an Australian citizen or resident, or hold a current permanent work visa.

Set Up a Brokerage Team

Set up a team in this order, so each person’s access matches their accreditation and each file has a clear owner.

  1. Accreditation. Accredit each broker who will lodge with CBA, so each one receives their own Broker ID.
  2. Activation. Each accredited broker logs on to CommBroker with their own user ID and confirms the menu loads.
  3. Staff permission. Arrange any assistant or processor access through your Relationship Manager, and never share a broker’s user ID or password.
  4. Record owner. Before lodging, note in the client file which accredited broker the application goes under. When a broker plans to leave, agree who takes over their open CBA files before the transfer starts.

Account Recovery

Recover CommBroker access through the “Forgot your password?” link on the CommBroker log on page. NetBank recovery only resets your personal banking log-on, and CommBroker uses a separate broker user ID.

As at October 2026, the link opens CBA’s Account Recovery page, which asks for your user ID. Brokers leave off the “CF” prefix there too. When you know your current password and only want a new one, use the “Change password” link on the log on page instead.

Recover Access Step by Step

Work through these steps in order before you escalate.

  1. Open CommBroker from CommBank’s residential brokers page or your own bookmark.
  2. Check the user ID. Remove the CF prefix and any spaces.
  3. Type the password by hand instead of pasting it.
  4. Select “Forgot your password?”, enter the user ID and complete the recovery steps the page shows.
  5. Try a private window or another browser if the page won’t load or keeps returning to the log on screen.
  6. Log on again. Recovery has worked when the CommBroker menu loads.

Send it to your Relationship Manager or the Broker Support Hub, which CBA describes as an Australian-based team for broker questions before, during and after submission. Commercial and asset finance brokers log on to Brokers’ Secure with a personal Business Intermediary Nominee (BIN) number. CBA’s Brokers’ Secure log on page says to ask your Business Development Executive if you don’t know your BIN.

Application, Technical and BDM Support

Route each CBA support question by its type before you contact anyone. Application status starts in CommBroker, while file, processing and platform problems go to the Broker Support Hub or your Relationship Manager.

CBA’s residential broker pages use the title Relationship Manager for the role other lenders call a business development manager (BDM). New brokers also start with an On-Boarding Relationship Manager. As at October 2026, CBA’s broker pages set out these routes.

CBA’s residential brokers page gives a guideline of 1 day for pre-assessment and 3 days for credit assessment. That guideline applies to applications that meet CBA’s minimum standards, so check Service Updates for current times before you chase a file. The home loan settlement guide explains what happens between formal approval and settlement day.

Policy and Scenario Questions

Check CBA’s written policy before you ask your Relationship Manager a scenario question. CommBroker’s Credit Policy section covers the standard rules, and CBA says its online serviceability calculator is the one its credit analysts use. The CBA lending policy guide explains those borrower rules outside the portal.

Bulma’s Policy Advisor answers CBA policy questions from CBA’s policy documents and quotes the wording behind each answer. You can then take your Relationship Manager the one point the written policy doesn’t settle.

Commercial Broker Enquiries

CBA handles commercial lending and asset finance brokers apart from CommBroker, and a residential Broker ID doesn’t open Brokers’ Secure. Your aggregator must hold a Business Intermediary Agreement with CBA before you can be accredited for these products. CBA also asks for at least two years’ experience, membership of an industry body and membership of an approved dispute resolution scheme.

Commercial and asset finance brokers also need professional indemnity insurance. CBA’s business brokers page sets the minimum cover at $1 million for asset finance and $2 million for commercial lending.

  • Commercial accreditation and commission enquiries go to CommercialBroking@cba.com.au.
  • Asset finance applications, documentation requests and settlements go to AFBroker@cba.com.au.
  • Escalations and Alpha Portal access go to your Business Development Executive (BDE).

A residential-accredited broker without commercial accreditation can refer a business client through CBA’s Commercial Connect program. CBA pays a referral fee, and you must tell the client about the fee when you ask permission to refer them.

Report Suspected Application Fraud

Report suspected fraud on a CBA application through a channel you’ve confirmed on commbank.com.au. Keep the original evidence intact and describe your concern as facts you observed.

CBA’s business broker contact page names its SpeakUP program as the channel for brokers to report concerns about unethical behaviour and corruption. CBA’s SpeakUP page lists fraud among the concerns it accepts. The hotline runs 24/7 on 1800 773 258, or by email to speakup@speakuphotline.com.au.

The hotline is an external service and doesn’t investigate concerns itself. With any necessary consents, it refers matters to CBA under the Group Whistleblower Policy.

  1. Verify the route. Open commbank.com.au yourself and find the SpeakUP details there, instead of using contact details from an email or a document in the file.
  2. Preserve the evidence. Keep each document exactly as the client supplied it, with the email or upload it arrived in. Work from copies and leave the originals unedited.
  3. Write down what you observed. Record dates, documents and the specific mismatch, such as an employer name on a payslip that differs from the deposits on the bank statement. Leave out conclusions about who did what or why.
  4. Report through the verified channel. Give the facts, the application details and where the original documents are kept.
  5. Record the report. Note the date, the channel and any reference you receive in the client file.

The mortgage broker fraud guide covers warning signs across lenders. When a message claiming to be from CBA asks for your CommBroker details instead, don’t click its links. Send a screenshot or copy to hoax@cba.com.au, then change your password from the official log on page.

Check the policy behind your next scenario

Ask Bulma a lender policy question and inspect the source behind the answer.
